Monica Sykes is the Founder and (CEO) Chief Executive Officer of MLS Enterprizes, LLC. with over 30 years of progressive internal audit experience, compliance, risk management, fraud prevention and detection, project management, business process analysis and improvement, corporate governance, and information technology audit and controls. Monica has conducted dozens of external quality assessment reviews in many industries over her career

Monica also has broad accounting and audit experience working for both publicly traded fortune 100 companies as well as nonprofit companies in industries including, Banking and Financial Services, Airport/Airline and Cargo Services, Recreation and Leisure, Food and Beverage, Hospital & Health Systems, Health Care Insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP), Loss Prevention, and Real Estate.

Under Monica’s leadership the internal and external audit teams perform advisory and assurance engagements covering enterprise risks such as financial, cybersecurity, information technology, business operations, ethics/compliance, and fraud. Monica also has years of experience in financial reporting at the program and Board level, planning and analysis; enterprise risk management; and developing and leading learning/training programs. 

Most recently Monica has performed consulting for high profile clients and has been responsible for developing and delivering client services in many areas, including; internal audit, IT audit, corrective action processes, policies and procedures development, board reporting, external oversight, internal audit department development, quality assessment reviews, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, business control implementation and education, mentoring client on audit standards, and business process improvement

Monica previously served as a Manager of the Quality Department for the Institute of Internal Auditors and is a currently a member of the West Coast/Tampa Chapter. 

Monica has delivered many audit and compliance committee presentations in her tenure at Elevance (Anthem), Johns Hopkins (JHHS) and Independent Bankers Bank and has served as a contributing member of the JHHS Physician Professional Practice Compliance Committee. 

Monica is a Veteran having served in the United States Army. Monica has also held many volunteer positions including SHINE – Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Elders; Treasurer of a local Homeowners Association and Treasurer of nonprofit hurricane recovery group – Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team.
